Pilates for Athletes

At Roots Down, we treat your entire body as a complex, integrated system. Your time spent here will feel guided and tailored, no matter the route or modality you choose.

With dynamic, spring supported exercises, Pilates creates balance in the body. When we play sports, we ask our bodies to go beyond it’s normal range. Competitive athletics are by nature performative. Some parts of our bodies thrive, while others (often joints) suffer. By tending to structurally supportive muscles and opening restricted paths of movement, we can prevent many injuries and improve the quality and function of our joints. We can also work to increase range of motion, coordination and core strength, which often leads to better performance. Pilates is excellent cross training for runners, swimmers, bikers, golfers, and much more!


Thai Yoga Bodywork for Athletes

Thai Yoga Bodywork is perfect for athletes. Your practitioner will stretch and massage your body, providing traction for compressive joints and relief for tight, overused muscles. Active stretching is important, but when you are passive and relaxed, you can comfortably find greater range of motion and deeper release. We will tailor your experience to your needs, and will draw from many forms of relaxation to get you into a deep, meditative state. Some examples are heat, aromatherapy, tuning forks and light cupping.
